Major problem! Help ASAP?

Hey, I would've liked to make a better first post, but I guess this will have to suffice.

I'm building my own PC (It's like my fifth time doing so), and I've got everything correctly hooked up..

I push the power button, the fans start up...nothing else. My CD drives won't open, my reset button does nothing, and nothing loads on the PC. My screen gets no signal.

When I bought the parts, my motherboard and CPU were sold as a bundled, and after installing them I was informed by TigerDirect that the bundle they sold was incompatible, so I had to take it apart again (Two hours of work down the drain...), and when I was removing my fan/heatsink, it popped my CPU (S478 2.53 Celeron) out along with it, still stuck to the heat transfer compound and the heatsink 🙁

It bent a few of the pins, and when I got my replacment mobo, I successfully removed the CPU from the heatsink and attempted to insert it, but it wouldn't fit, so I CAREFULLY bent the pins back in place.

New parts:

MOBO
Power Supply/Case
DDRAM
CPU

Old parts:
CD-RW drive
Vid Card
NIC Card
2x HDD (1 20 GB, 1 60 GB)
Floppy

So...can you guys help? I'm on my laptop, but it's acting up lately so I'd like to get my big computer working. I can provide more specific info on my parts, and before anyone asks, I checked all compatibility for my parts after the mobo issue the first time and they're all 100% friendly with each other.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

You should at least get a beep code if only the CPU was bad. If you don't get anything, it's probably a dead-on-arrival motherboard. Try taking out the CPU and see if you get a beep code. If you do get a beep code after taking out the CPU, then it's probably the CPU.

I have removed the CPU and such from it just now, and no beep code.

There's no other causes you can think of? Anything? *pleads*

EDIT: Another forum suggested dragging my mobo out of the case and setting it on like a phonebook to eliminate the possibility of shorting. Should I give this a go?

Also, I know on older PC's you could run them a bit without heatsink/fan ( I have them, and installed them on it, don't crucify me!). I also know some AMD chips can toast themselves in 4 seconds without them. Can a 2.53 Sock478 celeron work for a while without damage?

I'm not trying to double post, but when I tried to edit it again, it looked like it wasn't going to save the previous edit.

One thing I wanted to note was that before I got no power to my CD-RW drive. I just unplugged all my drive cables, and tried to boot, and got power and a lot of what I consider to be my PC's "normal" start noises. No video, though.

Any thoughts now?

LAST EDIT: Okay, I've discovered when I unplug drives, they'll recieve power and do their "sounds". When I plug them into the mobo, they don't do anything when I hit the power button....

What is this? MOBO DOA?

Yeah, try it outside the case, without anything attached to it other than the power buttons from the case, so no processor, RAM, hard drive cables, PCI cards and such are not on it. If you have it outside the case with only the power connector and power button connected (oh, and the speaker leads if it doesn't have a system speaker built into the mobo) and it still doesn't do anything, it's probably a dead mobo.

One question, which sounds oddly stupid I'm sure. Is there a wrong direction to have a speaker plugged into the mobo? I've never had it happen to me personally or heard of it happening to anyone else, but is that just luck? If so, and I have it plugged in wrong somehow, could that prevent me from hearing beeps?

I'll try removing my mobo from it's habitat. First instinct was to set it back in the box it came in, but my cat ran off with it about an hour ago and has fallen asleep in it. 0.0

Bloody cute, yes, but now it's all full of cat hair...and the cat said hair is attached to.

I'll post more later today.
