Hi

I just bought a Pioneer DVD-writer (DVR108b) , I removed my old cd-writer and put the new drive in its place
Yet when I Booted the computer up, both my dvd-rom and dvd-writer are missing from "my computer" (it just shows my floppydrive and hard drive.

So i looked in device manager, and both drives are listed there but with yellow exclamation marks over them.
When I click on properties , I get the following message for both drives...........................

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have tried both the dvd-rom and the dvd-writer with master settings and slave settings , and ive swapped them around into different bays , but everytime i boot up the machine its the same.....

Can anybody please give me a solution as its driving me mad, ANY help will be greatly appreciated

This is actually an easy fix. You need to go to the following microsoft page and do the registry changes they specify. After you reboot you'll find no problems. Your error code and solution is listed on this page:

Error Code 19 fix

Good Luck! 🙂
