I just got myself a new MSI K7T-Pro 2a(hehe half of people in this forum have this card so I figured it was good) with a Giga T-bird. Ive got the UDMA 100 version of the card. I am using a G-force 2 mx and 256mo ram. Here is the prob.... In Q3, in the timedemo I only get 4 more fps in 800*600*32 than my previous athlon 500.... 3D mark scored 4029, about 200-300 more than with previous system. UT is not much better with only 60 in the City intro while ppl with "old" Athlon 750 beats that pretty easily.... Sigh I've installed all the VIA drivers(anyway to test if they are properly installed even if i guess they are) and Ive try the latest Nvidia Drivers of course..... Help this is so frustrating!

Thank You

Your MX is fill rate limited and is maxed out. In other words it's not going to gain much FPS wise by going with a faster processor. Now you need a geforce2 to go along with that 1G.:Q

your MX is at its max. stick a GTS or Radeon in there and see your frames fly. I have a radeon, and it gets limited too, but at around 950 mhz cpu speed. 950 to 1.2 gig, there is absolutely NO difference in FPS, cause over that limit the Radeon is pushed to the max. I believe this is what is happening to your setup, the cpu is plenty there but the MX simply cant keep up with it.

As others have already said, the GF2 MX is the problem, NOT the MSI K7T Pro2-A. In high resolutions with max detail you won't notice that much of a difference - because you are using the same video card. Try lower resolutions, and you will notice a huge performance boost.
