Ok, background info is that my motherboard won't play any sounds, VIA sound card or onboard sound but the PCI slots work just dandy. So I don't know if that comes into play here or not.
Alright, I haven't used my PC in a day and a half, I get on this morning, and everytime I try to run a program my screen flickers which then stops everything. I tried rebooting and I got this message about Windows having to recover my registry...very wierd. What I mean by flicker, is that it's the same kind of flicker that you'd get if you changed the resolution or your monitor or the refresh rate. But it freezes everything up in the process.
Tried to reboot it thinking it might clear it up. Was booting into windows and got a blue screen a death quickly before restarting. It did this cycle 4 times before it just shut off. Upon trying to restart it, it wouldn't power up, CPU and Case fans spun around about two or three times when I hit the power button and then nothing.
So I thought to myself, oh great the PSU I bought two months ago is dead. So I connect my old Antec 400W PSU, it powers everything up but still get that blue screen of death upon trying to boot into Windows.
I left all my discs at my parents house as I keep my XP Pro disc in with a slew of other discs. Will be able to get it back in two or three days, think a fresh install will solve my problems or think it's something else?
**Update!
Now it won't even try to boot into windows, it will go through the post process then just go to a black screen and sit there...
