I've had some spooky goings on with the Geforce2 MX and Geforce 2 GTS cards over the past week. With mostly failures cropping up when testing. I have some questions which still remain un-answered.

Here are my systems:

SYSTEM 1: Aopen AX6B MotherBoard Intel BX Chipset, AGP Slot Version 1.0, 128MB Samsung memory SDRAM DIMM, P2 300 chip running at 338Mhz (75x4.5), Hercules Geforce 2 GTS 64MB - Memory 365Mhz Core 200Mhz, Adaptec SCSI card 2940, Adaptec 2904 card, Barracuda Hard Discs, Plextor CD-ROM, Traxdata CD writer, Sound Blaster Live Value, Intel Pro 10/100 network card. Windows 98 4.10.1998, Directx 7.0a

SYSTEM 2: Asus K7V Motherboard Via KX133 Chipset, AGP Slot version 2.0, 196MB memory (3x 64SDRAM), AMD Athlon 700Mhz (100x7), Creative Labs Geforce 2 MX 32MB - Memory 143Mhz (DDR), Core 175Mhz, Adaptec SCSI card 2940, Traxdata CD writer, Sony 40x CDROM, 20 GB IBM Hard disk ATA66, Intel Pro 10/100 network card, On-Board Sound, Windows 98 4.10.1998, Directx 7.0a

I shall refer to system 1 as the Intel one, and system 2 as the AMD one.

Okay, I first stuck the GTS into the Intel system and everything worked fine, giving the system a neccessary boost in games like NFS5, Midtown Madness 2, Unreal Tournment, Quake3.
Then when I put the Creative MX into the AMD system with Creative's drivers, I started to get crashes in Windows 98 like over the start button and then in games like NFS5 and Midtown Madness 2 flickering with texture artifacts going all over the place. Unreal would play well but would then freeze sometimes or even pause un-neccessarily, but Quake 3 in OpenGL was quite stable during play. I switched over to the Detonator Drivers 6.34, and this made it worse in some cases.
I thought the card was faulty and I decided to return the card to PC world where they exchanged it for a brand new one boxed. I put it in the AMD system and the same things errors happened again! I thought what were the chances of getting two dud cards!
Anyway I tested the Creative MX card in my Intel system and to my amazement the same errors were occuring, with the detonator drivers in there! I put the GTS back in the Intel system and then everything was fine... with the same detonator drivers.
I went back to PC world and exchanged the Creative MX for the Hercules MX. I put the Hercules MX in the AMD system and the windows errors seemed to disappear, but still I got flickering texture errors and sometimes system lock ups in Direct 3d games like Midtown 2, NFS5, Unreal. Quake3 worked well though. I tried Hercules own drivers on the CD and the Detonator 6.34 again and still no joy!
I went into the AMD system bios and made sure the AGP aperture was set to 64MB, fast writes on, AGP 4x, USWC, everything OK. I fiddled around in the bios by turning fast writes off, AGP 2x, every combination in the book, but still no difference in the games.
I stuck the Hercules MX into my Intel system and to my amazement, the same errors! It even went into a blank screen when launching Unreal, and then when I reset it, it had down clocked my chip to 133Mhz!! I put the GTS back in the Intel system and everything was fine!
I then put the GTS (the only known working card to me) into the AMD system and to my horror the same errors occured yet again in the games. I put the GTS back in the Intel system and everything worked well as usual.
I put a Creative RIVA TNT into the AMD system with the Detonator drivers, and all the games worked beautifully.
I completely Fdisked the AMD PC with the Hercules MX, reloaded windows 98 and still the same crap!
I took the Hercules MX back to PC world and got a refund, and am now thinking of getting an ATI Radeon.

Then I read an article in Insanehardware.com about incompatible PWN's on certain Motherboards being the cause of not feeding the Geforce cards correctly. It said that its symtoms were displaying nothing on screen on a cold boot. I never experienced any kind of problem like that when testing. My Asus K7V was on that list if incompatible Motherboards, but the Aopen AX6B was not. I have the opinion that the Geforce GTS 2 will not run in any new motherboards!! When I upgrade I will have to test the Geforce 2 GTS cards in the motherboard before buying, and it will limit the choices of motherboards because of the incompatibiliy.
My questions are that how is it possible I can get the Hercules GTS 2 to run in the Intel system and then not be able to run any of the MX cards in there? Why does none of the Geforce 2 cards work in the AMD system?
I have heard that the Geforce 2 cards draw alot of current from the AGP slot.
Both system PSUs are rated at 250V.
At the end of the day, I feel NVIDIA have let me down with the Geforce 2 products, and I spent a large amount of money on this product expecting it to work flawlessly in any system I put it in.
