Major File Recovery

So I deleted one of the User Accounts off of my computer, but had some files in the account that I need. I chose to delete the whole account with the files, so it's all gone. I need to know if there is any way possible that I could recover the account again to get the files. I am running Windows XP Home Edition. Any help is appreciated.

First thing to do:

Stop using the computer until you find a data recovery solution. If anything gets written to the hard drive, the new information could overwrite the deleted information.

You'll need to use appropriate file recovery software or else consult an expert in data recovery. If data is important, it needs to be backed up periodically.

XP's System Restore will recreate the account and folders, but not the deleted data.

UseNet discussion of this problem.

Another discussion.

Like Rebatemonger said, step 1, stop using that computer. If you have another PC available, take your hard drive out of your system, hook it up as a secondary drive in the other system, and use a file/data restore utility. I've had a lot of success with Easyrecovery Pro from ontrack.
