Major failure on the part of the police here

I've been watching the shootout that happened in Harlem a couple of days ago when 2 robbers attempted to rob a pharmacy for money and painkillers. In most of the surveillance videos, you see 3 police officers arrive within seconds after the silent alarm is triggered. They have their guns drawn outside the pharmacy. This isn't surprising because 1) the pharmacy is on 1st Avenue and there's a police station 3 blocks away between Lexington and Park Avenue and 2) police are everywhere in that neighbor hood because it isn't so nice. So, in one second you have 3 cops laying siege to the pharmacy with the robbers inside. A second later, the robbers escape the pharmacy. One gets away while another is shot in the neck/cheek and the head as he tried to escape east-bound towards a gas station and was brought down by a retired detective who just happened to be filling his new boss's car with gas. The dead robber's gun jammed. The private photos I have show his brain matter all over the pavement.

So, how did this happen? My guess is the female police officers. 2 of the 3 officers laying siege to the pharmacy were females and they gave way when the robbers stormed the door. The male police officer probably also gave way, perhaps fearing for the female police officers' safety. I've seen this happen in Afghanistan where male soldiers are primarily worried about the safety of the females in their ranks rather than carrying out their objectives.

As for the cops, I hope they get demoted and have to take on desk jobs because the robbers should never have left the pharmacy with guns blazing.

Please say one more time that you are guessing, cuz that isnt very clear you are acknowledging all the bullshit logic you used to draw that conclusion.

I don't understand your concern.

You said the robber's gun jammed and as a result, he had 3 bullets to the head.
What's wrong with that? Sounds like justice to me.

There were two robbers. The one that was shot and killed was killed by a retired detective who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. If he wasn't there then BOTH robbers would most likely have escaped. They both live in the area or have family there. You could tell that by how quickly the dead robber's family came to the scene and started sobbing.

In the meantime, the first suspect who emerged from the pharmacy is still at large.

Police say he took off running north on First Avenue.

He is described as being between 5-feet-10-inches and 6-feet tall with a medium build and was last seen wearing a black hoodie with a red lining and gray writing and gray sweatpants.

Political correct bullshit that they don't identify the race. You see this all the the time in id when they're looking for someone. One of the most important physical identifiers isn't listed. We don't want to offend anyone :^S

OP, so you're mad that a retired detective killed an armed robber who tried to fire his weapon at the detective? (that's the only way they knew it was defective I assume)

What is wrong with YOU?
Why are you defending a convicted felon in the act of trying to kill a retired detective?

We need MORE armed retired detectives.

And don't bring up the case of the Neighborhood Watch guy.
He wasn't a detective... he was a retard.

You're saying the "failure" here was that the robbers were able to leave the pharmacy, despite the fast response of NYPD, right? Because blowing apart an armed robbers head is most definitely not a failure. Just sayin.

that's silly. Everything happened fast. the robbers busted out yelling and firing. Of course the police are going to take cover. Avoiding getting killed is more important then getting the guy.

There was 3 cops. that's it while they got there fast it is not a lot. you are acting like they should have stood there and returned fire like it was the old west. that's not how you do it.

Also good job by the retired detective. good shot as some would say. Hope the other guy that got away gets caught soon.

Because the police are just as bad as most criminals.

This is a very subjective opinion. Yes, "shit" happens as far as the police go, but I have no issues with them. See? Subjective. Are you basing your opinion on what you read? Or personal experience?

How could you even come to that conclusion?

He was complaining that it came down to that. It should have ended in the pharmacy, they should have never been allowed to get away - and he blames the female police officers for it.

Attack him for being a sexist pig, but don't confuse the issue.

Agreed. In my youth, they ALWAYS included the apparent race of the suspect...

"Negro male, 6'-1" 200 lbs with large afro hair style, wearing black pants and a black sweatshirt, and a ski mask."

"White male, 5'-11", 175 lbs short hair, wearing blue jeans and a black jacket"

"Hispanic looking male, 5'-7" 190 lbs with short black hair, wearing denim pants and jacket."

etc.

There's NO FUCKING REASON to not list the apparent race of the suspect.
