Ok, at the job I'm at I was offered pay increase, and increase to full time work, after a while; but no set date.
Since I started it's been about 4 months, and things have changed at home, I live with my folks, but I don't think for much longer, I've got to get my own car, and I've started in a relationship with a great girl.
But my paycheck isn't cutting it. I really like this job, but I could do more, I feel stupid though asking for a raise, or time increase, because I don't really think they could use me.
But also its really stupid of me to be not making alot more. you'd probly all yell or Laugh at me if I told you the numbers.
Now I've got all my friends breathing down my neck about how little I make, and my parents, should I just muster up the scroat and ask??

Also, I need desperate help with my resume, and what the heck is a cover letter? some coaching on that would be nice.

Im at an impasse, definitly this time, which road should I take...

Thinking about the big move huh?

Some refreshers:

Cover Letter: It's like an introductory letter you submit along with your resume. It should be less than a page but descibes you, your past accomplishments, and your goals for the future. It should also give a reason why you are applying for a certain position.

Be VERY careful of leeches errr.... ah I mean recruiters

If you wish to stay, ask for a raise. The worst thing that can happen is you get turned down. Let them know that qualified IT people are in short supply despite the economic slowdown.

Holy crap!!! You deserve at least twice as much considering the cost of living where you are. Ask for a raise of some sort ASAP.

EDIT: What benefits are you getting if any?

At least it's better than my last job. Sure the salary was decent but you were paid "tri-weekly"

If they didn't bother to "tri" this week, they'll "tri" again next week. No guarantees though.

You should definitely check out CareerBuilder.com's Resume Adivce page for some very helpful advice. On this page there is also a link for help on cover letters which should help you get started creating your resume and submitting a cover letter.

I made a career change back in September and their site helped me out a lot. I ended up posting my final resume on Monster.com and that's how I got my job, but their tips were invaluable.

as I said above,
I'll be getting a raise to 10/hr, but no chance for increase of hours for 6 months.
And to get 10, I agreed to stick around till after my boss's wedding in june, because he'll be away alot in May, and I'll get to cover here.
