Major Computer Problem

Last night in the middle of a gaming session my computer locked up on me. I tried to exit back to the desktop but couldn't so I reseted the computer. The computer rebooted and went as far as the Windows logo screen and then it would freeze. Several attempts later it would just give me the same result.

I then decided to bite the bullet and just reinstall windows but then the drivers would load and the part where is says Windows Is Now Starting the computer would freeze right there.

I checked my BIOS and everything seems to be ok there. All the drives show up in the BIOS and the computer goes through the boot sequence fine.

Plz help me figure this problem out. I have alot of critical data on the hard drive that I really need plus my computer is my first choice of entertainment.

Well, since you can't get into to windoze you might start by running Memtest86 to check your ram. Also go into your BIOS and see what it's reporting for the PSU's voltage rails.

If you have anything overclocked, reset it back to default (might as well just clear the CMOS all together) and try the reinstall again. I've had Windows install freeze on me with an unstable/dying overclock.

Also, have you tried booting into safe mode?
