Major Computer Problem? My 3d Mark Score Is cut in half

hey. Sorry to join just to get help with my problem but i am planning on sticking around

Anyways I havent played computer games in a while besides starcraft. But i installed command and conquer generals and noticed it played like ass and was really laggy. So i decide to run adaware and it still is really slow. so i run 3dmark 2001 and i get a score of 2927. which is horrible because my score was 5607. and there was no hardware changes except i added 512 mbs of ram

Anyway my computer specs are below

Athlon xp 2000+ (underclocked to 1800+ speeds because of instability)
1024 mbs Pc2100 ddr ram
Radeon 9000 (not pro)
80 gig WD HD
ECS K7S5A Motherboard

here is my 3dmark link from years ago when i first benchmarked it

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=5445750

and here is my link to what it is now with the same computer and everything

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8343281

so what the hell? I am looking for some tips or something. because that is a drastic fall and i only did things to make my computer better.

I added another Hard Drive to my computer while I had it open (60 gig 5400 RPM) as a slave. my other drive is 80 gig 7200 RPM. thats not gonna affect anything write?

Ew, dual-RAM motherboard. Uninstall and reinstall motherboard drivers maybe?

Also the fact that you need to underclock could easily be screwing things up. Does it overheat or what?

C&C Generals... With my X300 (9200 equivalent) I can play 1024x768 max settings at almost constant 30fps. The game really does love CPU power, though. When playing against 7 AIs (on an 8-player map) it lags even my processor, especially on the map Twilight Flame.
