That's retarded. If they are going to change your hours like that, they should at least discuss it with you.

I used to do about 10-11 hour "working hours" of overnight work about a year and half ago for 4 months as a part of a project that had to be done do minimize impact to the customer base, and it blew big time. If it's a short term thing I'd go with it, otherwise either work with your employer or find a new job... IMHO, nothing is worse than overnights.

What kind of job is it? Can you put into a monetary statistic how you can better the company by working other hours? How replaceable are you?

Why don't you just casually address your boss with simple questions about it? Have you already? What was the response?
