Major bog down in speeds after OC

after my STABLE OC, everything began running awkwardly. when i open up WMP, it takes undesirably long, a lot longer when i first set the baby up. Also, another factor that might have caused this major bog down in speeds is my BitComet & Limewire. Shortly after i downloaded those, my speed plummeted again. I deleted everything that i thought might cause my speed decline but its still laggy. I ran Spybot S&D,Adaware,Panda Activescan, and Xoftspy, and ALL detected nothing. I defragmentated hard drive also and still no improvement. Whats worse, when i try to place CS or any game, everything is f@*cked up. When i run in cs, it literally takes me 5 seconds to do a 1 second run. when i crouch it takes me a full 2 seconds until i am in the fully "crouched" position. even when i shoot my gun, i hold down my mouse, but it comes out it slow steady burst!!

omg, please help!!! the only other thing i could think of is my ram, i OC'ed to 216mhz and timings are 2-3-3-7. however, when i FIRST played cs, bf2, etc, 1 gig was more than enuf to play BF2, and other games without lag or problems.

the LAST thing i could think of is my graphic card which i OC'ed to 495/1200 and is STABLE. please help!!

"after my STABLE OC, everything began running awkwardly"

Am I the only one confused with this sentence??
How long has your system been overclocked and "stable"?
Did you already try setting your clock speed back to default as well as memory timings?

geez, man...go back to defaults, first of all (no OC) and see how everything runs. At least then you'll have a better idea of what's going on.

What types of activities were you engaging in right before this happened? Other than the p2p software being installed, what types of software have you installed? I am trying to figure out what has changed in your system.

I would reinstall video drivers for starters.

I also believe it is a driver issue, which is why I asked him if he installed any software. If he gives us more information we can help him narrow in on the specificity of the drivers.

well i tried isolating the problem, first i tried upping up the vcore to see if that would make it stable, nothing. I then went back to BIOS set the vcore back to normal, and tried upping the voltage of the ram, that locked everything up and i had to reset the CMOS, so right now I'm 90% sure its the memory. I tried underclocking the memory to >200mhz, still nothing. It's got to be the timings. and the only think i had was leechftp, limewire, bit comet, and thats about it. I've uninstalled all of them to see if they were the problem. Turns out they're not its something else. please help!

Re-install your video drivers. If that doesn't work, re-install your other drivers: Sound Card, Chipset, etc ....
Make sure to leave all of your settings to default, do not change the voltages as it factors in other variables.
Let us know how it goes.

right now im running at default and everything is fine. it MUST of been something during the OC could u possibly help me isolate the problem?here was how i got to 2.6ghz

260 x 10
Vcore=1.475
DRAM Clock= 216mhz <--------------- (so far this is my only guess why my computer is being g@y on me)
timings=2-3-3-6
amd cool n quiet= off
vdimm volt=2.75

anything look wrong up there? right now im back to stock becuz of this stupid problem _ _"

No offense. But how did you know you have a STABLE OC? Prime95 for how many hours? Did it pass MEMTEST86+?

If you did not get a stable OC like you think you did, you could have data corruption problem.

Also, are you sure you changed all settings in the bios to default? Did you clear the CMOS to be sure?

Just covering the basics. Someone has to do this :p

yes, cleared CMOS, and in fact i ran prime95 for 4 hours and no errors. but yet, in games, and while running applications, there are so many problems. memtest86+ I've never heard of, will be downloading it right about now :p

Bootable CD Option
-----------------------
Extract the zip file from the website to a folder of your choice. Let's call it C:\temp\memtest
Then browse to that folder C:\temp\memtest
There should be an iso image file->Use CD/DVD Burning(authoring) software to burn the .ISO file to a CD

This will make the CD Bootable
Make sure your bios is set to boot from CD and reboot your machine. It should automatically run

Bootable Floppy Option
---------------------------
Extract the zip file to a folder of your choice. Let's call it C:\temp\memtest
Insert a blank floppy disk into your floppy drive -> Run the C:\temp\memtest\install.bat file
This should install memtest onto your floppy disk
Reboot your machine and make sure bios is set to boot from floppy

If all goes well, it should automatically run. This will take awhile so you will have to wait. Let the software make a couple of passes..

ok you guys, now its turned really ugly, my computer properties shows that right now my CPU is clocked at 2600mhz, as well as myguard, but CPU-Z says the core speed is at 1304mhz (260 x 5) WTF?!?!

Also, another factor that might have caused this major bog down in speeds is my BitComet & Limewire. Shortly after i downloaded those, my speed plummeted again.

Well, outside of your hardware "problem", your PC is now LOADED with malware from those applications. Limewire is loaded with malware. Once you have malware, it downloads and installs more malware until your PC is over-run with it. IMO, you need to address the malware before you do anything else.

I've already ran Adaware, Spybot S &D, Xoftspy, and Panda Active Scan!! My computer is now rid of those darn p2p and the malware along with it. but my problems are still unsolved

im 100% sure its not malware or spyware now. I think I know what the problem is. After setting everything back to default through CMOS jumper, I increased the HTT by increments of 10mhz, and after each time, booting up to windows and checking if the speeds were correct through CPU-Z, but as soon as the HTT hit 240mhz, i went to CPu-Z and it deteched a total core speed of 1400mhz. BUT my computer and myguard detects the speeds at 2600mhz. however, 3dMARK05 also detects my core speed at 1400MHZ. so...QTF?!? so confused right about now. I'm leaving it at default until I have some answers :(

Could be a BIOS issue, assuming you have the latest version of CPUZ. Did you check for BIOS updates? I've heard of quite a few boards that "freak out" when you go above a certain HT speed.

yea, looked for ages, found another forum about how evga nf4 have this problem in some cases, and there is a bio update to fix this on the jetway website, however, the folks and evga advise not to:confused:
