Hi all. Sorry for dbl post, but I put this up in cpu/overclocking, and it was suggested I might get more help here.... Here goes...
I have the Intel 975X mobo (BadAxe), rev 304. It's been working fine for a month or so since I got it (well, as fine as they ever work). Not overly impressed with it tbh, seems quite flakey to me. Have a retail E6600 with it, and 2GB GSkill HZ, all under water (incl NB and X1900XTX).
The problem I'm now getting has only developed over the last 2 or 3 days. Used to be no problem oc'ing, with either the 1066 or 1333 strap, tho the 6600 needed a fair amount of volts. Anyway now the board doesn't want to clock at all - I set up the bios options, which get saved, but when I boot it has everything at default. Well, almost. If I set the 1333 strap then the 6600 boots at 3GHz, but if I change the voltage or the burn-in percentage nothing happens. Has anyone come across this before ??
I've used the burn-in percentage to oc this E6600 no problem before, and also used a oem E6300, so the board WAS fine before. Only thing I've done since then is put it on water.
Things I've tried to resolve this:
1. Set default options in BIOS
2. Re-install XP Pro
3. Set/unset maintenance mode jumper
4. Remove battery and power and leave overnight
Last note - say I goto the bios and set 1066 strap, then all default, then change burn-in to positive 20% - when I reboot it will show at 2.4GHz (default) and the memory FSB will be default too. Thing is, the BIOS settings are saved, if I go back in there it all looks correct.
This ones starting to annoy me now, as was working fine a few days ago. Hopefully some of you have suggestions, otherwise am prolly looking at getting one of the Asus boards.
Let me know if there's any more info that'd be useful, and thanks in advance for your help
