Well when I first got this card yesterday I thought it was everything I had hoped for. It worked and sounded great, then it started. My pc locked then I had to power it off, then when I rebooted I got a prompt that said the soundcard wasnt installed and to try again. Everytime I reinstalled it just said the same thing. I totally removed everything from the card on the PC, cleaned the registry and it did the same thing. So I removed everything again, cleaned the registry of audigy entries and scanned the system for any files and removed them all. I then updated to the latest 4in1's and flashed my bios and upgraded to directx 8.1 I then reinstalled, this time it worked but many things were still not working like they did the first time the card was installed.
Some of the presets just doent seem to sound the same, like for example the ballpark preset sounds no different from auditorium, but I remember it having a distinct echo. Also now the gameport is no longer installed, and when I install it manually the joystick inst recognized, again this worked the first time. Also some of the demos arnt working like the experience audigy demo says its not installed on my system, again it worked the first time. So I totally removed everything again and cleaned the registry and moved the card up to another PCI slot and did a full install of everything and nothing changed.
The only thing Im not willing to do is reformatt, I dont have the time to reformatt my system just for a soundcard that I know did work fine once. Just wondering if anyone has run into anything similar to this? Im planning on calling creative support, but I dont hold much hope in that. Getting that Acoustic Edge I passed on to get the audigy seems like all I have left.
Edit: oh,Trying to update the drivers doesnt work either because the update doesnt see that I have an audigy installed, WTF.
