I hope its true, if only because my wife is holding out on buying a netbook until it becomes clear whether Apple will or will not release a netbook/tablet.

If it's a tablet, I smell fail. I went through that hell back in the 90's. You couldn't give me one now.

Between my iphone (maybe nexus one soon who knows) and my macbook pro, I can't see how a netbook or even a 10inch touch screen device can fit into my world. Plus it will be too cost prohibited or too locked down to be perfect. It will be 'just useful enough' to get people to buy it.

I'm done with that train. If there is a restricted app store, I'm 100% out.

I'd be interested in a ultra portable tablet or netbook assuming it was a decent price. I know it would be "$249 netbook cheap", but sub $600-$800 I'd strongly consider it. I had a windows based netbook and it sucked. I loved the portability, but otherwise it was a POS. I think Apple can do it better.

This seems considerably overpowered for a thin tablet.

Some hints give it off as fake. Namely Clouded Leopard (which Apple has never mentioned) and the fact that it's upgradeable to 8gb of RAM. No system that size could fit 8gb SO-DIMM and no Apple laptop supports it. CPU seems overpowered for something like this. I would expect the ultra-low voltage Penryns. I mean, this thing would be faster than the Air. They also don't mention what GPU it uses.

The Apple logo has also been photoshopped in there on the second picture. There's a faint box outline around it.

I'm finally excited about the tablet! Maybe I'm just spoiling myself, but lately I've been wishing for a bigger screen to read on without having to carry around my laptop. (the dead battery might have something to do with that)

Bring on Jan 26/27!!1

I had a Dell convertible tablet, running W7 and the beta drivers for W7, it sucked balls big time, dual core, maxed out on ram too, it was miserable...

I notice the demos are videos, not real time...

If it has an Atom proc, we could hackintosh it. :D

Hahahaha :D

Did Ballmer do a realtime demo of it during the keynote last night?

I saw him do a demo of something, and he had trouble getting it to recognize his finger to activate, lol. Same with the tablet from Lenovo or whoever on Engadget. No one is as smooth as Apple when it comes to finger slides & swipes!

Still hoping that there would be something nice for iPhone, like a new firmware with newer features, or else I might just move to an Android altogether. The Nexus One does look sweet.

I would recommend waiting a bit to let that phone get sorted out, people are having problems with the 3G, the virtual keyboard is getting bad reviews, and Google is screwing up support. I like the specs, but no multitouch and the issues that are cropping up give me serious pause at the moment...

Also, the app storage on Android phones is seriously lame, I don't have many apps, and have to keep thinning them out because I run out of storage on my G1.

thats exactly my issue with the nexus one...along with the lack of AT&T 3G bands.
