Major Abit KT7 Problems

I have two problems with my brand new Abit KT7:
1. I cannot install windows. Usually I can get past scan disk (Sometimes I can't even do that), but when i get into the installation it gives me a general protection fault error and the installer quits. I am positive this must be a motherboard problem I do not know what else it could be I have tried installing from the same disk on another computer and it works fine.

2. Whenever I have to restart in MS-DOS mode or the BIOS, I have to completely cycle power (unplug, wait, plug, start) just to get it to boot.

If these sound like general Abit KT7 problems I will return it and get an MSI KT7.

Any information would be greatly appreciated,
Ben

Did you Fdisk and reformat ?? I had a similar problem once when I tried to skip this step, it was on a diff mobo, but sounds like what was happening to me then.

How about giving us a listing of:

BIOS Version
CPU
PowerSupply
Exact peripherals and EXACTLY what slots they are seated in.
Are any of your fans plugged into the mobo, and if so, which fans and to which headers.
What Size/Brand/Model Hard Drive are you using?
Is this a regular KT7 or a RAID Model? If RAID, which header do you have your HD plugged into?

If you give out more info, you're libel to get back both more and better responses.

Joe
