Majicjack vs Voip

I am setting up a small 2 person office in another location. I want to give them a phone and fax line on the cheap.

What would you guys recommend for the cheapest setup.

so far i see two options

Magicjack
Voip

MagicJack is cheap, but you have to have a computer on all the time, right?

You can look into Skype also. For fax, look into online fax like trustfax. $40/year for light faxing, I think.

$40 for first year, $20 each year after that. I have been using it for awhile, first under XP and now under OS X. Overall it works pretty well. From time to time I will get a bad connection so I hang up and call back. From what a friend says about his Vonage account, it doesn't sound any different than that.

And no, it isn't spyware. The MJ application windows has a space where advertising appears but that is it.

If I needed a home phone or business phone for everyday use I would probably not use MagicJack because it's entirely feasible that they do track numbers, but we do use one at home for people who we don't want to give out our cell number to or in case there ever was an emergency and the cellphone wasn't working.

For $20 a year you know they have to be making money some other kind of way.
