Maintenance of leather shoes?

Alright, I got me a new pair of leather shoes, and I read a post here saying that they last a heck of a lot longer than regular (cloth) shoes - now, the question is:

-Because it is leather, is there some thing I should avoid/special precautions I should take (Like people do with leather jackets)?

Just don't get them wet, polish and buff them when they get scuffed, and they should last a while.

They're like these, same company made them (GBX), and I guess they're "casual boots"?

Get some wax. I waxed my Diesels. I figured I was obligated to after waxing my car and other things.
