Mainstream rock radio: do they play too much Red Hot Chilli peppers where you live?

I wasn't big on radio until I started to drive to work. Every NYC modern rock station seems to devote 1/4th of it's playlist to RHCP. What the hecks' up with that? Is this just a ny thing?

P.S. RHCP overdose led me to get Sirius satellite, and I couldn't be happier.

Exactly! And all of their newer songs sound exactly the same - funky, white boy rapping verses then mellow, campfire introspection choruses. STOP IT!

it's the same here in SoCal - you'll either hit RHCP or Foo Fighters on the 2 stations that play that music

I don't usually listen to the radio, mostly cds and recently my free temp-sub to Sirrus but I don't usually hear that much RHCP when I do. Of course I like them so I probably wouldn't notice anyway.

Sirius to the rescue. I have never heard Nickleback on any of the Sirius stations I mainly listen to (20,21,24,28).

Here in Austin, it is freaking ZZ Top. They play the shit out of them followed closely by Ozzy on the classic rock station.

I personally miss the days of Blood Sugar Sex and Magic. Back to a time when they didn't think California Jam Bands were the only way to go.

If I wanted to listen to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, I'd throw on Running down a dream.

Nickleback, Linken Park and Puddle of mudd dominate the alty/new metally stations. It is obnoxious.

I made a rule last summer that whenever Nickleback or Licken came on, I would switch over to NPR. Let me just say I was very uptodate on world affairs.

The local radio station around here has about 50 cd's in rotation with the occasional new one every once in a while...the same old crap for the last 20 years, The Doors, Zeppelin, Floyd, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Ozzy (ugh)...

KROQ here in So Cal plays RHCP, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, and Rise Against all way, way too oftend. Disgustingly often. I like the songs but can't stand them anymore since they're on so damn often.

Woaw, they do play a lot of Foo Fighters too. and the occasional (but all too occassional) off-Nirvana track, i.e. not one of their big hits but an annoying minor song.
