Bad news for people waiting for mainstream (sub-$300) Fermi derivatives: http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/17290/34/

I'm almost sure June won't cut it - heck, even Fuad says "don’t be surprised if it launches a bit later."

But hey, bad news is still better than no news... :\

PS: JSH = JHH = Jen-HSun Huang, the co-founder and forever CEO & President of NVIDIA

If I wanted mainstream performance, I'd just pick up a 5850 or 5830 now.

In June this will be the performance order.

Gtx 395 by far, but overpriced
5970
gtx 380 smoking the 5870 and more exspensive
gtx 360 close if not even to 5870
5870
gtx 350
5850 mainstream!!!!!
5830 low end mainstream
and all the other slow cards no one cares about like my 5750.

Unless ATI somehow refreshes there line up.

don't know what JSH means, but don't need to upgrade since I play at 16*10 with a 4870

if I do, it'll probably be for a 5830 or 5850 after several price cuts

Where is the "I don't care." option?

Which brings me to my next question... Why does the T2k (who already owns a 5870) care when NVIDIA's mainstream lineup gets released?

You go too far T2K. There's mild entertainment value in any good debate; but this is just silly..

Between T2K and Wreckage I find that my fanboy compass is nicely reset when visiting the gpu forum. It's kinda refreshing really, keeps the old neurones working sorting through bs on both sides.

I'm waiting for the up-coming price-war. If GF100 offers the most for money, then I'm getting one of those. Otherwise, my plans for CrossfireX Cypress is still in the game.

Yep! Different styles though. Wreckage makes quick jabs and sits back while T2K pulls out the arsenal each morning.. :)

Fixed. Added the ATI refresh there, which I assume would be ready by June or even earlier than that.

I see the performance order the same as you have it.

I think that is the interesting part of this, fanboyism aside. It really does appear that there won't be a mainstream GF100 part to put pressure on AMD until summer, so we're not likely to see much of a price war.

Even when they do have product I don't think nVidia is going to be interested in a price war right away because of narrow margins, they'll probably just let their cards sit $20-$30 above AMD's and rely on Physx and marketing.

Unless a new game engine comes out that is more powerful than Crysis, I don't need to upgrade. My current setup can play anything maxxed out at my res.

So Fermi offers me nothing beyond higher fps that I can't see because of my monitor's 60hz max refresh rate. Well I suppose I could buy two Fermis for $1400 to get from 40 to 50fps in Crysis...................................................

I agree ,I see a 5890 refresh offering 10/15% better performance over the 5870 as usual.

We'll see. GF100 is supposed to be "competetivly priced", so maybe a 448sp GF100 @ $400-450 would be a possibility? If it was to mash HD5870, then we would see prices cut.
