Maingear rolls out iMac-style gaming AIO with 18 cores

These boutique PCs crack me up. You'd get better overall performance buying a $1500 PC every other year for the next 20 years. How will this perform in 20 years? I'd bet similar to a decent windows 95 machine today.

Also these boutique computers tend to have terrible acoustics due to loud, crappy fans (in addition to custom cases that have terrible airflow designs). I'm amazed how much they skimp on quality on these expensive machines.

Wait wut?

That said, the Alpha 34 is always equipped with a 450W power supply unit, and therefore not all setups will be feasible. Multi-core Intel Xeon processors as well as top-of-the-range graphics cards consume a lot of power and 450W may not be enough to feed all the possible configurations

They went cheap on the power supply or I wonder if this is a limit in the small form factor case?

...

while this is a PC gaming machine, i dont know if it belongs in the PC gaming section..

i'll have to give this some thought...

While technically this is general hardware talk its related to PC Gaming enough for me. I just don't want to see a parade of various gaming machines.

I'm still trying to figure out the 450 watt power supply. Why offer configurations that aren't compatible with the power supply and 15k for a machine that can only have a 450 watt power supply?

It's for the best. People will buy it, RMA it because it constantly shuts down due to bad power supply, the company will lose face and the machine will end up "factory refurbished" on woot for 30% of the cost with a 750w PSU.
