Mainboard dead because of Live card?

Hi,

I bought a Soundblaster Live 5.1 de today from a local store...

I put it in, winxp gets a blue screen on boot, (hardware conflict). I change pci slots to rule out irq conflicts, and my system won't boot.

... yada yada yada... my bp6 is fried. (Good thing I had my friend's old bp6 in my closet- phew).

Was the live the culprit? Is there anyway I can tell if it has a short in it?

Only the billionth time I've changed a pci/isa/agp card...

I didn't have the guts/money to try the card in the new mobo...

Thanks,
William

My friend ran a LIVE! in his BP6 without problems, If anything the card itself was broken or defective to cause such a thing.. I wouldn't try it in another PC either if that had happened..

I don't think tht the snd card fried ur mobo. Unless u installed it when the mobo is on standby mode. ie PC is off but the mobo still received power.
