T43: 533MHz FSB, DDR2 533 RAM, PCI-E graphics (GMA900 integrated, Radeon X300 64MB, FireGL V3200(?) 128MB), higher heat generation, higher power consumption, slightly larger battery capacities
I've not used a 14" T42, but the 14" T43's are pretty decent. I hear the 14" T42's are okay, but the brightness isn't the best and viewing angles could be better. If you get a 15", make sure you go SXGA+ or UXGA to get the Flexview screen; otherwise you'll get the same type screen as a 14". T42's are still a better buy than T43's, offer 90% of the same performance, and get better battery life.Originally posted by: arcas
I have a T42p with the 128MB FireGL T2 (which is itself based on the 9600 IIRC). It's not a bad machine but you might want to stay away from the 14.1" display. Word on the forum here is that the 15" panel has a wider viewing angle.
It's interesting that 2GHz P-M in the Thinkpad crunches numbers about 3x faster than the 1.4GHz Athlon I have at home.
