After posting this i came across the software "Inframail".
i was only looking for an Email server software since i used Apache for my Web Server.
but ran across this Inframail software and it does both.
Web and Email Server.

I got the Web Server running finally, but now just stuck on the Mail setup.
if anyone can tell me what settings i need to change, and change to what,i'd appreciate it.

Server Specs:
Win98SE
NIC
SMC Router
Web Address: http://XXXX.myip.org

Thanks.

Ill see if I can find the software if you think about using a server OS instead of a desktop OS :p

EDIT: Ignore the first edit, needed to read more.

This is just for testing purposes at the moment.

will be running XP in it if all goes well.
if ya can help me on setting up just the Web server as for now, that would help.
just don't know what settings to change in this program.
have tried many settings and still no go.

Yeah they have a site but it wasn't no help to me.
new to seting up servers and such.

you still have "ifweb" files and such you have to edit right?
if so,maybe some lines that needs to be changed in order to get it running?

If its not the same,no prob.

thanks for replying though.

yuck. Move to FreeBSD and try out sendmail or postfix or qmail. These are all great MTAs that fill a void in small scale all the way up to enterprise level mail configurations. Most Win32 based MTA programs [IMail, etc] are pretty lame. Exchange is ok, but it's also mucho dinero. YMMV. http://www.freebsddiary.org and check out the mail section for helpful tips.

I would recommend getting away from Windows too.

I run IMP on Apache with a local IMAP server on Debian Linux and it rocks, easy to setup and looks decent. Only problem (only sort of a problem depending on how you look at it) is IMP (and all horde programs) require a database for their settings so I had to install MySQL too, which isn't hard I'd just rather not have it on there.

I also ran SquirrelMail for a bit, I don't believe it needs anything unix specific so you could probably get it working on IIS or Apache with PHP on Windows.
