I work at a local ISP the customer service dept. We are having some technical difficulties with our mail server. I have asked the engineers on what the problem may be, but they won't say because it is too "private information". muhahahaha. Anyway, I am curious about this problem and I hope that some of you guys would be able to help me find out exactly what the problem is.

A customer calls up and tells me that the mail server keeps asking for their password over and over in Outlook Express. I verify via the mail server administration program that it is the right password. I even have the customer go to that page and type their username and password in and it does accept it. But, whenever they try to download their mail via Outlook Express, it keeps asking for it, acting like it is the wrong password. Would any of you guys have any idea on why it would do this? I have had many calls like this today and it is getting on my last nerve. Any suggestions to alleviate this problem?

Thanks,
Adam

you could telnet to the mail server on port 110, put in a username and password, and see what error it gives you.
