Mail Paranoia?

Is anyone here getting just a tad paranoid about opening their mail these days, what with all this talk of Anthrax going around? My GF watches CNN most of the day, every day, and even though they haven't started targeting the general populace yet, her paranoia is starting to rub off on me, to the point that I'm actually considering buying a big box of surgical gloves, mostly to placate her.

I hate this sh*t!:| I wish they'd catch the stupid MF'ers who are doing this, or get the machinery in place to irradiate the mail, like NOW!

I'd love it if we could put all this insanity behind us and move on with our lives.......-kd5-

ur more likly to get shot walkin down the street then get anthrax...compared to ALL the mail taht travels in a day, there is barley any anthrax...

Considering the nations mail is coming very near me to be sterilized at a facility in Ohio, I dont consider being worried "paranoia". But perhaps not everyone has the same feelings.


edit: I see you are in ohio also. How close are you to lima?

There are far more dangerous things to worry about than getting Anthrax from the mail. You are waaaaay more likely to get killed in a car accident, but has that stopped you from driving your car?

And it's also why a lot of people buy SUV's... they are safer in collisions just because they're bigger.

I often hear this, but I wonder how this was figured. Was it using the fact that we've only had like a dozen infections in 25 years? Or does it also include the dozen new cases that could seriously rise in numbers if attacks continue?

I'm sure it was figured using pre-anthrax-in-the-mail stats, but I don't know how many people get hit/have been hit by lightening so I don't know how close the odds are. And if I was going to bed I might just care enough to look into it
