Well my mailman is a jackass. I would overlook this but he has messed up several times before.

I started moving on 5/15. I put a hold on all my mail on the 17th. So NO mail/packages
should have been delivered after the 17th. Well one package was delivered on the 19th!
I had no clue it was delivered and it should not have been. I called usps passports/claims
number yesterday when I found this out. They looked up the DC number and could not
locate the package. They said my mail carrier probably delivered the package and he
should NOT have. She clearly admitted it was their fault but there was NOTHING they
could do. She told me I would have to call my local PD.

WTF am i to do? Luckily its not a real expensive package but still expensive enough to piss me off!

Advice?

mail delivery people have to be some of the biggest morons in the world. either that or they are so busy they can't handle 'special' things like moved addresses and holds, and they are morons.

The problem is that the Postal Service tries to provice a service to people who are out of town for free. They don't charge for the extra work it takes to specially sort your mail to where they hold it, and they don't charge you a storage fee when they get it there. As a result of doing millions and millions of people this extra free service properly, they don't give a sh!t, probably, when they occassionally screw up on this. You go on vacation and ask for your mail to be held and suddenly every substitute carrier in the world is supposed to know you're gone. They probably have a way to grab the letters out and hold them but I doubt that packages are sorted with the letters and magazines. I wish I had a penny for every time the post office does something right. Get a neighbor to pick up your mail, demand the PO charge you for the service and sign a contract to perform, or .........or................................... or smile.

By the way, what did you pay to have that parcel sent. The PO is beholden to the sender, not you, right?

After your mail is only hold and no one is there to claim the mail after a certain period of time they send it back to the sender.

I have to admit that sometimes USPS sucks but I'd rather not send my 1oz letter via UPS and get charged $5 when I can send it thru USPS for 37cents.

I understand mistakes even though my mail carrier makes too many of them. He was a new
carrier and it really showed but oh well. What REALLY urks me about the whole deal is all
they can say is were sorry! I'm there like every 3 days mailing stuff and what not. They could
atleast compensate me with $20 in free shipping charges or some free priority stamps.

SOMETHING. not just.. Were Sorry...

Well I'm sorry too! I guess you don't need my business that bad.
