Do they deliverately run on a plan that people would never send in the rebate, second protection=doesn't have copies of submission, third protection=not pay out unless they call and bitch?

I finally got my $30 ATI rebate. I totally forgot about it since it's been such a long time, but realized about it after looking at my paperwork a while ago. Called and whined. Got the check in two~three weeks. I am suspecting they're purposely doing this.

Do they have mail-in rebate program in Europe and Asia too? It seems such an American way to do it. Kind of like they're renting our money without any interest.

Haven't had any problems with Staples rebate. Even sent a $200 rebate in without making copies of it :Q
Was soooo relieved to see the check come in the mail about a month later :D

I remember Diamond being a total PITA about sending rebates. Someone seriously should have filed a class-action lawsuit on them. Can't tell you how many friends I've got that still haven't gotten there Diamond Rio rebate after 3 years now :disgust:

Mail in rebates have become the best way for a company to clear out inventory with minimal losses. They know no one is going to jail for creating a fraudulent program and will only have to pay out very few rebates, only to the ones who complain and spend a ton of money trying to collect their $5 rebate.

I think he meant deliberately. Anyway I just got a check for a Netgear rebate I sent in last August or September. It may just be that they have so many rebates that it takes a while to process them and verify that everything is valid. I don't think there is anything fraudulent, just slow.

Yeah Jerboy, they put their buisness plan around it. I remember from when I was working for Gateway, something like 50%-60% of people never mail it in, so that cash is just extra in their pocket. There was a $100 mail in rebate with them a few months ago and I remember all sorts of hell with it because the requirements made people jump through hoops. They had to get the rebate from a small and mostly unnoticable slip on the box, then they had to wait 8 weeks for their "official" reciept to come in the mail. I'm positive that Gateway did this on purpose because it only said in really small letters on the rebate that they had to send in the reciept also, and 2 months later most people would have forgotten about it.
