Can someone tell me the name of the files under which Outlook save the mails in XP? and also the address book. I need to save this before I reinstall XP. After installing the latest XP update IE and outlook is not working. So I can't even do other updates.

If you set it up with the defaults, they should be loacted in:

Documents and Settings\<your UserName>\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
or
Documents and Settings\<your UserName>\Local settings\Application Data\Outlook
(for your PST file)

Documents and Settings\<your UserName>\Application Data\Microsoft\Address
(for you Address Book)

I can't find any such file. Are you sure it's for outlook express not microsoft outlook? i need to get this information.

They also may be hidden.

In Windows Explorer:

Tools\Folder Options\View
Under "Hidden files and folders"
click "Show hidden files and folders"

Then do a search for *.PST
or
goto the directories stated earlier

For Outlook, it's PST and for outlook express, it's dbx

I just got done looking this up for myself this morning! Go to microsoft and lookup the following technet knowledge base article: Q188854

It covers about everything you need to know.
