Possiblly because most station wagons have the swing open door type thing, as opposed to a tailgate type of thing.

you're right. and i think "unigue access lift gate" is a door opening up the back of a wagon. wow.

The tailgate is hinged further forward in the roof than a typical SUV or wagon (jsut look at the hing-point) so that the hatch pretty much lifts straight up and out of the way instead making you have to step back and make room for the hatch to go up.

Now who's the dumbass? 😛
