magnets and monitors: crt vs. lcd?

Hi, LCDs have no problems with magnets. CRTs have temporary distortion from magnets, which is usually fixed by moving the magnet and turning the Monitor off then back on. Automatic Degausser does the trick . In extreme cases you can Degauss manually on most Monitors or just turn them on and off several times. Hope this helps, Jim

Unshielded speakers will cause picture problems while they're near your monitor, but they shouldn't permanently damage it. Once you move the speakers away, any residual color weirdness should disappear by simply deguassing your monitor once or twice.

Apeture grille masks yes.

Shadow masks no. They can be permanently ruined by high gauss fields.
