Magnetized heatsink backplate, huh???

I just finished installing my Tuniq 120 onto the motherboard and was measuring the screw projection out the back from the heatsink clamp screws and noticed that my 6" starrett ruler was magnetically attracted to the heatsink. It was all in place and locked down and as I went over all the metal parts to try to isolate one the whole heatsink grabbed so I took it all off again. I lapped the copper plate which was just a joke the way it curled from the slots that receive the heat pipes, not even remotely flat. Once removed again I figured I somehow induced the magnetism in lapping, but the copper plate has no pull of it's own. The backplate could stick notes to the refridgerator though. I somehow don't think that's copacetic.
I could use a bit of help on this one.

copper is non magnetic. that is odd. i'm not sure what problems that will cause though? most of the parts in your pc except for cases and HD are non-magnetic. good luck.
 

I'm waiting on tech support for their input. I suspect a replacement is the only viable solution. We'll see what they say. I'm getting fond of the idea of putting a tremendous amount of heat and force upon it though : (.
