Hi,

( did i spell interference right ? )
Anyway,

I have a regular speaker placed on top of my AopenHx08 case, if i place the speaker too close to the monitor the picture becomes purple and blurred. But is it also bad for my UWSCSI harddisk that sits in top of the case just a few inches below my speaker ? or is the case holding back the magnetic field ?

What stuff can you use to reflect or diminish this field ?

The best thing is get a magnetic shielded set of speakers. For starter, move your current speakers away from your system. Prolong exposure can cause permanent damage to either monitor or harddrive.

Magnetism goes through metal pretty much like light goes through clear glass. (The only exception is mu-metal which is very expensive.) Many people assume that shielded speakes use metal inside the case to block the magnetism, but the magnetism is actually cancelled with a bucking magnet, not blocked by any material.

A bucking magnet is somewhat smaller than the magnet on the actual driver and is attached to the rear of the primary magnet in reverse polarity. Its magnetic field cancels most of the magnetic field of the driver magnet.

My concern would be that a non-shielded speaker in close proximity to a hard drive could eventually cause media errors and loss of data. The magnetic field diminishes as the square of the distance, so every additional inch of separation you can achieve is important.

Thanks !

I will move the speaker from the system... and place it somewhere else. The reason i don't use computer speakers is that they generally sound crappy.. (not all !)
