They work fine in IE. Have tried multiple torrent clients, still doesn't work. Have uninstalled/reinstalled Chrome, still doesn't work. Have tried all the useless Local State/regedit fixes, they didn't do a god damn thing. How do I fix this?

Yes, it was snarky. But my point still stands: Google likes to do things its own special snowflake way with Chrome. Like bypass system printing and use its own printing system. I wouldn't put it past those jokers to implement recognition of third-party protocols (like magnet) in their own way instead of the standard way that IE and Firefox adhere to (that is, through the Windows registry).

Dump that junk and get a proper web browser. :p

Seriously, the amount of non-standard and proprietary crap that abomination of a browser does makes the IE era look civilized in comparison.

Ditto, even with torrents/magnets, in Chrome, it would not launch my default torrent client, it will just download the torrent file into the downloads folder, then i have to double click on the torrent/magnet file from there

get a real browser like Pale Moon or Firefox

If you're up for using a different torrent program, SABnzbd works great with a chrome extension that works a lot like a magnet link.

Are you sure Sabnzbd it for .torrent files? I thought it could only open and handle .nzb files. Maybe I'm wrong though. Do you have a link I could check it out?

I found this using a quick google search. https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/ZV2wifw51A4

It's from an older google groups discussion but it seemed relevant to your situation. It involves modding a file in the AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data location. Might be worth a shot if you are still having trouble. Make sure you close Chrome first before you try it.

Thanks for actually trying, but that was the "Local State" fix I alluded to in my original post.

To the rest of you: I didn't ask for browser recommendations, I asked how to fix this problem. If you have nothing to say but "Chrome sux lol" then don't say anything at all.

Sorry man I missed that part in your first post. Maybe you could try asking in the group discussion I linked to.
Here's a link to the front page.

I was really surprised by how active it is and it appears to be maintained by actual Chrome staff/help support. Not bad considering Google Groups is basically Googles version of Usenet.
