This is one of only two copies that exist outside of England. I hope somebody buys it and gives it to the public for viewing if it doesn't harm it. It would be great for it to stay here in the states as far as I'm concerned, but maybe there is a more appropriate place for it. Conservation of the document is the most important no matter where it goes. It's expected to fetch between $20 - $30 million dollars.

Ross Perot

The version up for auction rested for six centuries with the Brundell family in Deene Park, England, until being bought in 1984 by businessman Ross Perot. Since then, the Perot Foundation has kept the copy on display at the National Archives in Washington.

Either that or he's backing someone.

The Perot Foundation plans to distribute the money from the auction to various causes such as medical research and helping wounded soldiers

I can't believe Perot was able to but it for 1.5 million in 1984. What a steal! And it might just have appreciated 20x.
