Mag wheels or spokes on your BMX bike?

So your first "real" BMX bike. You know, the one that wasn't bought at kmart. The one you and your buddies rode all over the world with. You know...catching big air, riding wheelies all the way down the street. Trying to nail that damn cherry picker.

Easy poll.

mags here first, man were they heavy. Mongoose - heavy as a brick. Went to a skyline later that was super light and super fast.

Viva la Bunny-Hop!

First BMX was spokes but this was about 18 yrs. ago. I think my little bro. put mags on it many years later.

Maybe I should change to poll to "who actually had a BMX bike".

Ya know...go outside, meet with your friends, ride all day long?

Boy those mags were heavy. And you couldn't put a card in them with a clip to make "the motorcycle sound"

Had a Mongoose with nylon mags and than had a Panda and a Redline both with alloy rims. The mags added a little weight to the bike. Didn't like them much.

Neither did I. She was a heavy and tough girl though.

But no "brbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbr" motorcycle sound with the mags. 🙁

i own, and still ride, my diamondback to this day, and it still has spokes on it
i don't, however, ride it in any shape or form like a BMX bike, I just ride it.
i always hated mountain bikes and have always preferred the smaller-ness of the BMX bikes, thus why I have it (and it was the cool kind when I was the age to normally ride bikes)
i only ride it now here on campus, mostly because 1) i can't drive my car as im only a freshman, and 2) even with a car, driving it to get around campus for classes is pointless as lots aren't really close to classes at all. i'll probably stick to my bike and the buses to get to class and use a car to get to places off campus.
