i just got a two AA mag LED flashlight from Fry's. It's really bright and the light pattern is fairly even. Plus it's only $22.

I got 2 of the LED conversion kits ($7 IIRC) for my AA maglights. They are now insanely bright.

That's cool, but a StreamLight Propoly will probably kick your Mag's ass.

Of course they'll seem insanely bright compared to your old incandescent Mag.

I had the 3-AA version but lost it. :| My main complaint about it was that focusing it would increase the intensity of the beam at the center, but the overall size of the beam stayed the same... I guess I could see a use for that, but I could also see a use for concentrating all of the light in the center, which you can't do.

Oh dear. You really are a gentle retard when it comes to flashlights.

Please Google voltage regulation, and come back with a few points added to your IQ.

The Streamlight has a flat output curve for the first 3.5 hours @ 80% output. The output of the Mag dips below 80% output after 30 minutes, and drops output 5% every 30 minutes after that, draining completely after about 3:45. The Streamlight will provide a small amount of useable output even after 8 hours.

Even though the overall output of the Mag is 10% higher than the Propoly at full charge, that only holds true for the first 30 minutes. But the throw of the Propoly (think fog cutting), is roughly 60% higher than the Mag.

Don't try to comprehend all of that at once. Save some for the morning.

yea i read the mag led is a poor design, it has to limit output due to heat or something. meh. compromised design to fit the original bulb size.
