I really wish there were some options as far as the story goes. You seem to really have no choice as to where things can go; I like linear games, but this is almost too linear. I'd at least like a few different dialogue options.

I'm enjoying it overall, but there seems to almost zero replay value.

I don't mind not being able to make multiple choices in story but you don't even have the option on what mission to do first since there are no other ones.

Joe's Adventures DLC is annoying. It's nice to see Joe as he was much more interesting than the dour Vito, but the checkpoints piss me off. Why the fuck can't we save when we want to? There's nothing more annoying than spending 15 minutes doing a mission only to die at the end and have to do the shit all over again. At that stage I just quit in frustration.

And seriously, is Empire Bay a police state? There are cop cars on every street.

Yep, by far my buggest frustration with the game. Just let me sabved the god damned game when I want to save it, plus sometimes I can't even tell if it's saved recently or not and am scared to quit if I am about to lose all of the work I just went through. Ridiculous.

I got about 8 hours out of it before I beat it. The game is super easy. But I think the story is what drives it and I felt like I was playing an interactive movie.

The city is huge but you don't get much to interact with so at best, you get to do a lot of driving.

As to driving, I pulled GTA and never followed lights or laws and when the police chased, I just out ran them. The only irritating thing is to hear Joe whining "whoa, slow down" or "you just ran that red light!" It just seems slightly unrealistic to hear "whoa, you just ran that red light!!!" when I'm driving away from shooting up a place.

I played to like chapter 9 or 10 I think back a few months ago. I enjoyed it a fair bit just never finished it. The game is really pretty. Loved it with the physics and stuff. But yeah the pick up drop off missions did get kinda lame after a while. I haven't found any of them to be very challenging yet. The city would be really fun to mess around in. Games like this would benefit so much from a bit of co-op. Driving around being a mobster with a friend as a partner would just be so much fun. Playing through games like Mafia I can't help but spend the whole time thinking how much more fun it would be co-op. Just Cause 2 suffered from this too.

Just passed this game. Took me ~14hrs to complete and it said I had 78% completion. This game was so repetitive. Driving everywhere got super boring, same gunfights and fistfights got boring as well since you used the same tactics for everything. I just felt like the city was so empty since there was nothing else to do. Voice acting was pretty good and had an ok story but I just felt underwhelmed.

Finished the game this morning. WTF is up with that ending? Very disappointing. There are certainly issues with this game and I would change many little things about it, but I have to say I am looking forward to Mafia III.

Looks like the DLC is not very good since you play some other character not even in the original game. Guess I'll pass on those.

Yea it was a fun game and they are definitely going to make a Mafia III so hopefully they learn from this one and improve a lot. Yea the ending just left you wtf no closure to anything at all.

Yeah, what the hell was that about? I was thinking 'ok, cool, this and this going to happen next' but no, it just ended. :\

You can play Joe's Adventures.......but don't. It's terrible. Thankfully I got it on the steam sale for a few dollars. I never bothered to finish either DLC.

I saw MAFIA II running on SLI GTX 580 with three 3D Monitors at Nvidia's booth playing with 3D glasses...

Now, I must resist spending my holiday travel money on more and new hardware...
