For some reason I feel like quoting something from American History X that I feel would fit into this time period, but for fear of being banned I won't.
* Mafia II the game for PlayStation 3
* Collectible SteelBook casing with debossed logo and art featuring Vito and Joe
* Made Man Pack - Free access to in-game downloadable pack that lets players get behind the wheel of two different luxury automobiles modeled after classic cars from the period; plus two new "made man" suits, including a vintage tux for Vito
* A 100-page hardcover art book that takes fans through the artistic design process of the game
* A CD symphonic recording of the Mafia II score by the Prague FILMHarmonic Orchestra
* A tear-resistent map depicting the 10 square miles of Empire Bay and all the hangout spots

Yay :awe:

Its $69.99 on Amazon.

Ps3 with release day delivery.

There is also a $10 credit.

Downloading the demo, and I'm sure I'm going to like, as I liked the first game, BUT...

I dispised the driving in the first game. Yes, I know they're modeled after cars of the era, but they didn't need to make them SO awful. Gas takes with 3/4 of a tank when full? FU. Just... FU... Speeding tickets? Driving violations for blowing stop signs? Did the designers take a look at GTA and figure out how to remote everything that was fun about driving?

However, the story was great. And the combat was decent. Solid game. REALLY could've been a serious classic by not F'ing up the driving....

Looking forward to this...

Heh... Sorry. Having back surgery next Friday. On a healthy dose of vicodin and vallium right now.

I meant to say cars with "full" gas tanks that run out in about 2 minutes... Pissed me off.

Just got done playing through the demo.

2 words.

Do want.

(Still think the cars are kludgier than they need to be)

I won't pay full price, when full prices are tending to be $60 anymore, but as soon as I can get to the $40 range, I'm there...

I can certainly keep myself busy with my Steam backlog.

PC gaming is dead, my ass... :)

hmm I've been playing Mafia 1 since it came with the preorder, haven't had any gas tank problems or even close to running out of gas =p The cops can be annoying, but the ones on foot never matter (just run em over!) and just have to slam on the breaks when you see a red blip on your radar, or just outrun em once you get fast cars.

I can't believe I'm playing this old game so much lol it's great, but really my 480s are crying. They run at 400Mhz and 25% lol

Oh and it was awesome of them to support triplescreen surround for the original! HUD stays on the middle monitor and everything!

Hmmm.... Was I think of The Godfather? Did those cars have gas gauges?

Eh... removing the 10 minute timer from the demo seems pointless [unless I missed the part about a hack to remove the "invisible" demo barriers] :)

Marking this game for when it's discounted...

I pre-ordered the expensive version, but I think I'll be cancelling and waiting for a sale. The reviews are starting to appear now...

Finally got around to playing this demo and damn, what a tonne of fun! I've fired it up several more times now just to mess around in the city. The actual story was fun too and I laughed at some of the characters/voice acting.

May need to pick this one up. :hmm:

A lot of reviews for this game are coming in negative. Apparently you can beat it quite easily in a single sitting, and the AI is useless. I'm going to hold off for a sale someday in the future.

Who cares if I could beat it in one sitting...I could do that to a lot of games, and they would still be worth it to me. Honestly, I'm tired of this whole "well 6 hours is too short to warrant a purchase". If the developers put so much time into making the game look and play good, as well as making a good story, I'll pay that any day over some shitty RPG with 296 hours of gameplay that is boring as hell. As well as the open world aspect which usually gives you plenty to explore, I'm sure there are things to collect as well. Not only that, but there is DLC coming for the game...PS3 users get day 1 DLC that adds 20 or so missions, and makes the game arcadey, as well as another pack revealed for consoles in general, and I would think PC too.

The reviews are mixed, rather than negative. Plus a lot of these reviews are for consoles so I will wait until we start seeing more pc based reviews.

A short game doesn't concern me much. 10 hours is fine...that's about 5 sittings for me plus whatever sandbox stuff I want to do.

Kotaku said there isn't very much sandbox stuff to do. Basically you get phone call every morning, go do a mission, and then repeat. The way it sounded was that these missions interrupted your ability to go do whatever you wanted.

Also, I don't know exactly how long the game is, but I think that 6 hours is longer than one sitting. So I'm assuming the game is shorter than that.

I just spoke to a reviewer and he said it took him over ten hours to play.

Seems to be some mixed information floating around.

Sounds like a smart thing to do. Most likely it'll be on sale in a few months on Steam. I wasn't too impressed with the demo and I beat the first one twice. The first time I beat it before they patched that stupid race that most people kept losing on. :D

Man, that race was fucking impossible! I lost clumps of hair trying to beat that. Thank god for the patch.
