For those who are unfamiliar with Madlib here are a few links to get you better aquainted.
Stonesthrow.com - Madlib's record label, they have a complete discography of his music. Also tons of great articles and interviews.
Madlib - Shades of Blue (Madlib revisits a few of Blue Note's classic songs)
Quasimoto - The Unseen (Madlib's alter ego)
Quasimoto - The Further Adventures of Lord Quas
Yesterday's New Quintet - Angles Without Edges (Madlib's jazz group, starring Madlib on all instruments)
Yesterday's New Quintet - Presents Monk Hughes and the Outer Realm
DJ Rels - Theme for a Broken Soul (yet another Madlib ego taking on electronica breakbeats)
Lootpack - Soundpieces (Madlib and a couple of friends formed this group a few years back)
Madvillain - Madvillainy (A side project with Madlib and underground hip hop's favorite emcee MF Doom)
Ok, providing you read a few of those links you should now have an idea of who Madlib is. Supposedly there should be quite a bit of material from Lib this year, there should be a followup to the Jaylib and Madvillain albums. Also just recently Madlib released another Beat Konducta album which is superb. But probably the most amazing music by Madlib in recent years are 2 unreleased instrumental CDs. The rumour is that these albums are what Madlib sent to various artists he wanted to work with (De La Soul, MF Doom, etc..), whatever the reason is for these albums they contain some of the best music I've ever heard him put together. If you look around the net in the right places it should'nt be hard to come by, the albums are entitled "Another Beat CD" and "62 beats", well worth the effort to search them out.
