Made off pretty good at the Marketpro computer show...

Hey all,

Just updating all of ya.... I am building a system for my new office, and I was gonna get the remaining parts at the computer show this weekend. Well, I KNOW I did a good job haggling with some of the people, because I got some vendors REALLY pissed off at some of the other ones for giving me such low prices. One guy was like, "G__DAMMIT. HE CAN JUST GO AHEAD AND SELL HIS to you at COST, and when he runs out, I'll let him come over here and buy MINE." HAHAHA!! One guy was almost crying...."Man, give me a chance.." 🙂

Anyway, here's what I got:

1 Enlight 7237 w/ 300 watt PS, optional fans
2 KDS VS-7i 17" monitors (DAAAMN nice picture on both)
1 Acer 4x4x32 CDRW (especially proud of that deal..only paid $112.00 for it.)
1 floppy
1 Asus V7100 32 MB
1 10/100 PCI NIC

Grand total: About $700.00. NOT BAD for a computer show, I think. I really couldn't have done much, if any, better online after shipping, plus I was willing to pay a little more for not having to wait for shipping, and being able to take things back that day or the next.

So, see? computer shows AREN'T all that bad! 🙂

And RAM prices weren't too bad this time. Compared to usualm anyway. It all averaged about $1.00 per MB at this show.

Ummm...I would not be proud of an Acer. Their CD-ROMs are really bad. The rest of the stuff looks good though.

<< Hey..thanks for being an ASSHOLE in my thread. >>

Ouch! But, he was right. I haven't been reading too many good things about the Acer CDR/W drive.

So what's your secret to haggling with those Chinese people. Last time I went they won't even budge.

I didn't have to deal with many Asian vendors at the show. Now, I only bought ONE THING (a floppy) from an Anglo-American vendor. The rest were Pakistani, Italian, and other nationalities. The only Asian vendor I bought from already had the lowest prices at the show. I only got him to come down about $5.00. --It was more than I was expecting. Even at that, judging by the overall lowness of his prices, I think he was getting down pretty close to cost on what he sold me. My secret, you ask? Print every price you can find that you want them to beat, and carry them around in a big bright folder. Wave it around and let them know what you have. Also, they may be ALOT more willing to bargain down to play off EACH OTHER than they will to beat online prices. --So, start with the online stuff, then go to the other vendors and tell them, "Well, that guy over there wants to sell it to me for "$XX.XX".... After you get a couple people saying "Check the other vendors. I guarantee we have the lowest prices," and then you actually find someone to beat them, you start getting into savings. 🙂
