I was in the frozen food section of a store today and was gonna buy a frozen pizza. I thought about it and decided that I should try to make my own.

The Ingredients I used:

$0.33 1 pkg Pizza crust mix
$1.29 1 jar pizza sauce
$1.29 1 small jar mushrooms
$2.69 1 pkg Mozzerella Cheese
$1.79 1 pkg 50 ct small pepperoni
______

$7.39 plus tax

I just finished eating 2 pieces, and I must say that it was awesome. I never tried to make a pizza before. I could have used more ingredients, but I wanted to keep it simple. I was pleasantly surprised. :)

My supper was great. How was yours??

Dammit. Did you expect me to make my own cheese, too? ;)

So very cheap though...why make your own when it costs $.33 to buy it :)

As for my dinner, I was planning to make Garlic-Herb chicken with a side of garlic rice...but me and my roommate are studying for finals so we just decided to get Jack-in-a-Box instead

why even bother with the bread machine, just make the dough yourself, pretty damn easy and a bit more satisfying.

Any of the experts here have any suggestions how to make good pizza base?

I have tried making my own pizza many times, but I can't get the base to taste good.
I use a simple bread recipe (just flour, yeast, water and a teaspoon of salt) and it never seems to taste like the bases you get from proper pizza places.

If you're a fan of thick crust, I highly suggest Boboli crusts. I'll make my own crusts in the breadmaker for thin-medium, but Boboli is tough to beat for the thick stuff. Yummy :)

I always mix 2 packs of the crust mix together per pizza. It make the crust a thicker and taste a whole lot better.

an egg will brown it better. might need a bit more salt too. add some herbs, those work wonders. fresh basil is awesome!

A tasty trick is to simmer the sauce before putting it on the bread. You can also add some seaonings like basil, oregeon, and a few small dices pieces of peperoni for taste. It comes out real good.
