I have just received a P4 2.6C which I got off New Egg refurb. It turned out to be made in China.

I have never seen Intel chip made in China, so have any of you guys had any experience with it?

It has China laser-marked on the heat spreader instead of Costa Rica or Phillipines. I have checked on Overclockers.com and found some Made in China entries since. I am running it at 3.25ghz so far on 250Mhz bus at default voltage, so so far so good. At least, it wasn't dead as it is always an option with Newegg refurbs.

I also got two Hitachi 80GB 7K250 off refurb and they both seem to be working fine as well.

correct!!! There are no fabs in China, Costa Rica, Phillipines, and/or Malaysia...

It can be produced at Hillsboro,OR, Chandler, AZ, and/or Rio Rancho,NM......Hillsboro and the D1B fab was the birthplace of the northwood and the D1c is the new home of the prescotts...The D1D will likely be the home of the .065 process....The fabs in AZ and NM are just mass producers so likely they are kicking at the older of the still current chips being made...

more corporate outsourcing
all the tech companies seem to be doing this
no surprise it's cheaper for chinese people to laser mark cpu's and box them than US workers

grrrr
