Made a solid switch to DE razor and love it

Sick of paying 14 for a pack of Mach 3 blades. Also didn't really realize how much I enjoyed shaving until I switched to DE shaving.

Equipment

1. Omega 10049 Pro Boars Hair brush
2. Van Der Hagen Shaving soap (want to maybe try Col Conk). The soap is OK.
3. Edwin Jagger DE89L razor AWESOME RAZOR, beautiful balance
4. Several different blades (derby, Astra, Cloud, Feather). Just tried the feather last night. No nicks or cuts but face felt kind of burned, feel ok today.

I was looking at people who buy shaving handles and buy badger hair knots etc... I want to get a unique handle and reknot it. I also want to pick up a nice antique Gillette tech, fatboy or adjustable. I also need to work more on my technique especially having under the neck, around the Adams apple.

I switched to a safety razor about four years ago. For the most part it has been a good experience, with the two greatest benefits being:

-Costs significantly less after the initial purchase. The blades are practically free making me feel no guilt for changing them. That said, I don't change them very often as I find they seem to last a really long time. Like 2-3 months of shaving once or twice a week

-Much more efficient for shaving 5'oclock shadows. I shave about every four or five days, and using a disposable cartridge type razor would require constant cleaning out as it would clog up. The safety razor can nearly shave my entire face without rinsing even with heavy scruff. And cleaning it out is much easier than cartridge-style blades, just quickly unscrew top a bit, rinse, then re-screw.

The only downside I find is that can be a bit harder to reach in some areas like right under the nose, and it's not quite as smooth-gliding as a brand new cartridge-style blade can be.

Sucks that you can't travel with them though. Whenever I shave with my old Sensor Excel blades while on travel I remember their suckitude.

Just travel with it and put 2 blades in you're wallet!!!! How could they detect this?
