A few weeks ago I decided to reformat and install Windows XP 64. My machine is a laptop with a K8T800 chipset and a Realtek ALC 250 audio codec.
With the drivers that Windows installed, ITunes audio would start to pop and stutter after about 2 minutes. If I hit "pause," then resumed, it would be OK for another couple minutes. I installed the 64-bit VIA audio drivers (link - the last one on the page, version 6.00a for Windows XP 64 bit and Windows Server 2003 64 bit) and since then the sound quality has been better and there hasn't been any popping or stuttering.
Today, though, it started again. Not as badly, but it was still very annoying. After I hit pause, there's a little audio "hiccup," then the audio stops. It works for maybe a minute before starting again.
I don't have any other media player installed except WMP, and I'm not much of a fan of that.
Does anybody know if this is a driver issue, or an ITunes and driver issue? Is there a solution?
