Comp USA has the MadDog 16X Int DL DVD+/-RW Writer Drive for $29.99 after instant savings and $20 MIR only good through Midnight tonight.

The MadDog DVD burners are normally rebadged NEC drives, so there could/should be a NEC ND-3540A burner inside the The MadDog 16X box.

Both are good drives. For me, the plextor is not worth the large rebates considering how well the NEC does. Since $40 is roughly the going price for the NEC, even if you get screwed on the $20 rebate, it's not like you paid above market price to get a rebate. IF BB would give you 20 dual layer disks like it says in the ad, which is a big YMMV, it might be worth an extra $30 rebate, but that's still pushing it.

Forget my response - I read the part number wrong. It is indeed the ND-3540A.

Ummm I will not buy Mad Dog Anymore. I'm missing 3 rebates from them. They suck in paying their rebates.

QFT. I had to beat these guys down and it still took 6 months for me to collect two rebates.

Same rebate issues here. it took 4-5 months get the MD rebate.

Yeah.. Maddog rebates are bad. Stay away. Last two Maddog rebates took SEVEN months. And that's after I called a couple of times and it felt like they were just giving me special one time courtesy payouts. In other words, Maddog wasn't releasing the payments, the fulfillment house was. Or maybe Maddog told them to only release the payments to people who call and complain.
