I love error bars on x-y scatter plots. If I can put a standard deviation on a group of numbers, I do it and plot the error bars. It's nice because you can really see if a trend is valid, or if you've just got a couple wacky data points.
I tend to work with a lot of data at once, rather than graphing every series on one graph, I'll make multiple graphs. I have 12 groups I'm graphing right now, so I'm making 12 graphs.
To save time, I often copy/paste the graph and just change the data ranges. This is faster than re-running the chart wizard, plus I don't need to reformat/resize everything.
My problem is this. Whenever I change the ranges on the data for the y-error bars, they lose their formatting. Sometimes they lose their color. Other times, they change their style (from a "T" shape to just a "|" shape). Sometimes they don't change at all. It's random, but it happens more often than not.
This is annoying, because I have one more step in making the graph (and I like to streamline the process as much as possible).
I've googled and checked MS Support online, but it appears no one has either reported this "bug" or it just doesn't bother other people. It happens on multiple versions of Excel, on widely different computers.
Anyone else have this problem? I only get two free support email requests with my version of Office, so I want to make them count if this is a full-fledged bug worth reporting.
