I usually buy Madden and NCAA each year. I downloaded both demos and passed on NCAA, since it's the EXACT SAME GAME as last year, barring Erin Andrews and a few other layups designed to pacify us.

Madden, on the other hand, seems to have been tweaked for the better. The slower gameplay, especially, really sank its hooks in me. I can't stop playing the demo! Anyone else plan on picking it up this Friday?

Visit the league thread if you're interested in joining!

I read some impressions of the game. I'll wait for a patch or next years version.

No challenges. Over done animations. No sideline catch stuff.

Is Sir Madden still doing the commentary? If it's Tony Kornholer that's reason enough for me to never approach a Madden game again.

No. I haven't bought Madden since 2005, and I'm better off for it. :p

Thanks for the link - that's a great write-up. The negatives that he mentions definitely stink (especially the clock not stopping when it should), but he does confirm my suspicions: this is a thinking-man's game and the slower gameplay speed completely shifts the dynamic.

Can't wait!

Yep, I did the Gamestop preorder so I could get the Superbowl rematch demo. I usually get NCAA and Madden every year as well, but skipped NCAA at least until I can get it for about half the current price.

Bought 2009 for PS3 last year and hardly played it (hadn't played since Madden 2003 on the PS2). Will give it one more go with Madden 10 because I have a 360 and my bro-in-law is a Madden nut. I am guaranteed to have several friends to play this with through Live.

Just played 3 games online. Game is great, but a lot different from last year (mainly, plays a lot slower). 360 version here.

Neither are doing commentary.

I haven't played Madden since 2002 on the PS2, but with MC pre-ordering it for only $34.99, it was tough to pass up. My GF wanted it more, to be fair, so we stopped by last week and pre-ordered it. Should be good for some occasional fun.

I agree though with some other comments, it's too much to buy every year IMHO, but every couple years it worth-it for some occasional new features, updated graphics, and potentially cool new/updated players.

You haven't missed anything :)

Sucks that EA bought out the NFL rights a while back. They can make the same exact game every year and make a huge profit...and they do :p - 2K games would be making a much better football game by now if EA didn't put a stop to it back in 2003 or whenever it was. No competition is bad news for the consumer.

Anyways, all that aside, it IS the only football game around and I'd probably get it if I had a 360 or PS3. Hope it's coming to PC next year with 1337 graphics intact.

QFT!

Man I loved NFL 2K on the Dreamcast....that game was revolutionary! WAY better than any PS2 Madden game...

If you have an Xbox 360, NFL 2K5 is on the compatibility list. I picked up a used copy at Gamestop for $1 (IIRC) just to have it.

My roommates and I are all pretty excited for it. I haven't played a Madden game since 05 and 10 is the first one since then that seems good enough to pay full price for.

I'm getting this via the Sports Illustrated promotion. Not sure when I'll actually receive it from them, but from what I've read, it sounds like a big step up from '08, the last version I tried.

I pre ordered the 360 version, because it was $35 at Microcenter. I never play on the 360, but may have to give it a shot this year.

2k5 was a great game. Still to date, the best sports game I've played. BUT, the gameplay of 2010 reminds me of it. The game just feels ... "right".

I'm definitely down for a league, but there's no way I can manage it... student, teacher, consulting firm, wife, kids (not really in that order).

I'm pretty excited. Just curious as to when the disk is gonna break. Pretty much every year for the past 3 years my madden has broken SITTING IN MY 360!

Now that you can install it to HDD you shouldn't have that problem

Still need the disc in the drive or no?

I got the microcenter preorder too. I would be down with a league. Although I hope it doesn't move too quickly. I tried an online dynasty with ncaa football last year but got kicked for not keeping up. Just can't always do a game every day or two. If the rules were set to two games a week or something that would probably work for me.
