EA brings Madden off the bench

July 29, 2008 - Many were upset by the report that Madden 09 would not be appearing on PC, with EA Sports citing "serious business challenges" as the reason.

During a financial call today the mega-publisher announced that it would be bringing Madden back off the bench next year (along with other shelved games) on PC. Peter Moore said EA Sports will be "Retooling these titles to take advantage of the online connectivity in a bigger and more meaningful way. Stay tuned for more on this."

We will, Peter, and so should you.

Although the article is kinda old, it is my hope they will hold to their promise.

Hopefully, madden stays on the console. I already hear enough from people who make a life of this game on consoles. I dont want my PC gamer friends to talk about it too.

Madden in my opinion is the worst game ever. I know someone who plays it every day for at least 10 hours per day.

Yeah worst game ever. People play it way more than those who play WoW. :disgust:

They way that I see it the more games brought to the PC the better. If you don't like it, then don't play it. Lack of sports games is why I went to consoles in the first place. Now MLB and Madden are both coming back to PC. This is a good thing no matter how you look at it.

What!? MLB!? Which one? Holy cow. I will not buy a console if this is true!

EDIT: Looks like 2K sports MLB. Fine with me!

Yup, this is good news!

Edit: and for 19.99 it doesn't get any better.

NBA 2K9 for the PC has to be the best basketball sim ever made. I'm talking it is even better then NBA 2K3 for the Game Cube.

It was the best $20 i spent on a sports game.

Madden 09 is a pretty damn good game, actually. I'm not sure how you conclude "Madden is the worst game ever because people play it too much"... that's usually what devs, publishers, and customers are looking for in a game.

What the hell are you looking for?

imo they should make these sports games every 2 yrs. just provide roster updates in between. of course that makes no sense in a business sense.

The reason they won't do this is because console tards will pay $60 for the roster update. There's nothing wrong with getting free patches, but free patches are like a big middle finger in the face of every Xbox gamer who paid money for the same update. I don't think they would go out of their way to piss off console gamers by giving free updates to PC gamers, especially when sports games on consoles outsell the PC version by a huge amount.

It would probably work best if they just included a development kit with the game, like Fallout 3 has. Let the users change the teams and shuffle players around if they want rather than waste money on it.

We're saying that the year-to-year releases of these sports games can easily be done in a patch and NOT by releasing a new game entirely.

See Orange Box.

From wikipedia:
The developers negotiated with Xbox 360 developer Microsoft to keep the Xbox 360 releases of these updates free,[55] but Microsoft refused and Valve announced that they would release bundles of several updates together to justify the price.

Wasn't supposed to. Before the console wave took off (and by console wave, I meant the first measurable defection of PC gamers to the console), it was billed as the no-fuss, no-milking, secure way to game.

Now console games are released every bit as buggy as their PC counterparts, and with MS at the helm, companies can't even patch their own games without a ridiculous certification process (that was supposed to ensure quality from the shelf to begin with) and even being forced to charge for them.

Well to each his own though. Like I said, it was in my opinion it is the worst.

I actually tried the game at my friends, and after about 5 minutes in a game it gets boring fast.
