Yes. They broke a cardinal rule of sports games, as far as I'm concerned. The only thing worse - that I can think of - is failing to include the fscking ball in the game.

It's quite strange when you post a reply to a thread and when the main page refreshes it's not at the top. :Q

I put 3 games under my belt in Madden 07 for the 360 after picking it up this morning. As a whole, I'm disappointed. We all know that Madden 06 at the 360 launch was nothing more than a quick and dirty job to make some quick cash at a console launch. Madden 07 was supposed to be the first, real next-gen Madden, but unfortunately, it still has a bit to go.

A listing of things that I've found that I don't like:

- On Pro difficulty, the CPU defense is about stupid. Either that, or I'm getting really good. I've not been having any problems getting big plays, most of the time because the CPU will completely blow the coverage. Once again, maybe I'm doing a good job at confusing them with hot routes, but it's never worked this splendously before.
- Damned stuttering everywhere in the game, from playcalling menus to cut scenes. Luckily, there is no stuttering during the actual game play itself, but it's gets irritating to hit a button 2 or 3 times to get it to register because the game is trying to load the next screen or animation cut scene.
- Stupid little stuff, like no short drive recap after a scoring drive, rediculous looking players on the sidelines, no refs on the field during game play, etc.
- Upon intial inspection, the menus blow (although they do look pretty). Who threw this sh!t together? Sure, I'll get used to them, but they still suck.
- What's with the game being so damned dark? This problem was in NCAA also, although not as bad. When I'm playing with my Bengals in their black jersey's, they almost blend in with darker grass in the middle of the day.
- Where the hell are our announcer's? This radio guy is annoying, I want Madden and Michaels back :(.
- Intros to each and every game are poorly done, and even though I always skip past it, it could still be done better.
- I hate all the flash and majesty that EA tried to put in this game. One quick example, when a penalty is called, the camera is all panning up and down and around the referee, trying to make it look cool I guess. It looks completely out of place. Why can't EA have a couple different animations for the refs, with just a still camera showing them going through their motions. I want to see the ref fiddle with his mic for a second before he starts talking!
- I hate the return of flashing to the scoreboards after certain events in the game, i.e. inches short of a first down (or over), 2 minute warning, end of each quarter, injury, etc. All these things can be done much better.
- I haven't found a way yet to see how many timeouts the other team has, and I can view mine at the top of the playcalling screen only.

Things I like?

- Great graphics, obviously. Most animations go smoothly into each other, although there's still problems. NCAA did a better job.
- Tons of plays in the playbook.
- The controls while on the field are spot on IMO. The running game is almost a little too easy because I'm able to control my runners with ease.
- The game is still fun when you break it all down.

The best of all time is still Tecmo Superbowl 3. :) BTW.... how does EA come out with a game before the players and rosters are even set for the regular season? Do they let you download updates to the rosters once the year starts?

For instance, today the Broncos traded Ashlie Lelie to the Falcons and T.J. Duckett got traded to the Redskins. Can the game be updated to allow for recent player moves?

Oh yeah.... how good is Reggie Bush in Madden '07?

Yes they let download the updated rosters.

Bush is decent. Good speed, but can't break tackles. At least for PS2, if you have a back with decent speed and good tackle breaking, you can get at least 5 YPC.

No cooperative multiplayer? That'd be a deal breaker for me too. To hell with the Madden franchise for another year.

Doubt it. Madden 06 is $39.99, and that's now that 07 is on the shelves.

Just one more reason why this monopoly is one big fat juicy sh!t-laden assfsck.

.

The game is VERY EASY on pro anyway. Typically anything less than All-Pro is a joke. Step up the difficulty and then report it being easy :)

On a seperate note, will roster updates be coming over xbox live once the regular season starts? Some teams are still making trades and such and I hate when the rosters arent accurate.

Yeah.. so you get either crap like:

1) EA Sports Madden 07

or

2) NBA Jam , NFL Blitz and other garbage designed in similiar fashion

This is why people hate EA, because they alienate so many of their players for no good reason. Why would you NOT include co-op in Madden? Only thing i can think is that they just forgot.

Just like with Burnout. Ever since EA took over the burnout series they won't let you and a friend both play using steering wheel controller simultaneously. Only one steering wheel allowed at a time...hmm, OK. EA just does really stupid stuff like this all the time. They never listen to their own players like they say they do.

I got it for the PC and playing it since yesterday. Haven't played Madden since 2003 or 2004 (can't remember) and I have to say I expected better.

Already like 3 threads in Software for it.
A lot of the posting in here is just knee-jerk anti-EA too... ignorant.

EA is pathetic. I hope their company goes down in flames. I seriously hate them. They buy out the NFL license then release crap like Madden 07 on the 360.

I played it on Sunday and I don't think I'll ever play it again. Aside from a little graphical update, the game is the same as it's been for years, but it lacks features that it used to have.

EA can burn in hell. Madden 08 will be the same thing too. There is no need for them to make it better because people will buy it. I mean on the radio this morning on the talk show they were even talking about madden 07, giving it more press.

The running game is MUCH improved over last years. That goes without question. They added manual offensive blocking this year, the cone last year... they add something every year to the gameplay adding something (whether you like it or not its up to you).

As far as them buying out the rights, get the story straight. It was the NFL that put the rights up for bid. WTF was EA supposed to do? NOT bid on it? Let ESPN win it? And then EA doesn't have a game to put out? Blame the money machine of the NFL for that.

Edit: Note I'm FAR from a EA supporter... but a lot of ignorant stuff is being thrown around here over a game I hold very dear.

They may have added something to the game this year like you say but obviously, based on the OP, they also took something away.

I also read there is no fantasy draft on the 360 so screw it. I would rather have a fantasy draft than some cone or run blocker guy or a bunch of hall of fame players i care nothing about.

an improved running game (from previous madden games) doesn't really say much, considering the running game blew in all previous madden games. the 2K series had the running game down perfectly.

actually you're right... I will eat a little crow here as I really can't speak about the 360 version itself. I just know alot of crap is being slung around about Madden 07 and because its an EA title, people jump on the lynching bandwagon.

From what I understand the 360 version IS in fact weak and missing things. So sucks to be them. Play on a PC like a man :p

no it actually DOES say much because the running game in 07 is pretty damned good and well balanced now with the passing attack.

The 2K series was my all-time favorite, but (again thanks to the NFL and NOT EA) we know what happened to that.

This does bring up another point. Is it the fault of the 360 disc limitations or is EA being lazy about coding for the system? I would really like to know a 'true' answer to that question. Not that I can do anything about it now... :p

I haven't tried to play sports games on a PC since I had an Amiga 500. :) But, what would be awesome, would be if EA could find some way to let all of the formats play against one another online. PC vs. 360 vs. PS2 etc. Probably impossible but talk about an amazing feature...

I looked at your league page and love what you all have done. If only you weren't playing on the PC...

I agree. I really do love how everyone just takes out their frustrations on EA, when this could've never happened if the NFL didn't much things up by putting them up for bidding.
